Teens & Young Adults
Your high school and college years are a unique time in your life -- fun and exhilarating, busy and challenging, miserable and magical (if you're a Taylor Swift fan like me). You're navigating decisions, dreams, expectations and responsibilities, and doing the best you can to keep up.

If you're a creative person, you may sometimes feel like you're proceeding without a map. The ways you think, perceive and approach life don't always lend themselves to fitting in or embracing a traditional path.

If you're looking for insight on this journey, I can help.

FIND YOUR TRIBE

As the child of two non-musician professionals (a Labor Attorney and a Development Director), I was fortunate to be supported in both my academic and creative pursuits. Yet to this day, my mother still jokingly wonders "where did you come from?"

The first time I found my tribe was during a summer abroad program in Italy, where I studied and performed with a student chamber orchestra. I was stunned to discover that the deep and philosophical things I loved to ponder were primary topics of conversation! I had been used to keeping these thoughts to myself around my high school and college friends; suddenly they were being welcomed and engaged.

The experience of connecting with people who "got" me was life-changing. I knew my life's work would be to lean into -- rather than away from -- this part of myself. And by doing this, I've built an extraordinary career as a musician, creative entrepreneur and mentor.

EMBRACE A WINDING PATH

For every passionate doctor, lawyer, engineer or investment banker, you'll find equivalent success stories in people who followed a less defined route.
Author Elizabeth Gilbert was relentlessly committed to writing (she recounts her journey in Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear), and eventually sold 12 million copies of a memoir that was adapted into a movie. Rob Dyrdek was obsessed with skateboarding; this passion drove his rise from athlete to television personality to founder of a venture creation studio that partners with visionary entrepreneurs.

SEEK OUT MENTORS

I've been working with creative young people for over 20 years, and can offer insight and understanding you may not hear from guidance counselors, teachers, and others who have followed a more traditional path.

No matter which road you take, success will require commitment, discipline, sustained effort, patience and so much more. Yet when you are operating from the heart, you may find it easier to access all of these within.
I look forward to helping you connect with and optimize your authentic self.
